Dot Esports, the premier destination for gaming and esports coverage online, is looking for freelance writers based in Australia to join our news desk. This role is freelance and fully remote.

Interested candidates should have in-depth knowledge of gaming and must be comfortable writing news about various gaming-related topics. This is a great opportunity to cover the gaming communities you love while working with one of the best teams in esports journalism. Applicants should be self-starters who are eager to learn and respond well to constructive criticism. We’re a global, digital newsroom, and work will be remote from Australia or similar time zone.

Please provide a portfolio or writing examples to showcase your work. We're looking for multiple types of writers who will each cover different beats. These include:

  • General esports
  • Video game releases
  • Streaming

Responsibilities:

  • Help cover news and guides around game releases
  • Be available around Australian hours: 9am to 5pm AEST
  • Work with editors to develop pitches
  • Meet deadlines for publishing stories
  • Follow trending topics through Google Trends and Twitter
  • Write a minimum of 20 stories per month
  • Understanding online game communities and the games themselves

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience writing in the gaming industry
  • Knowledge of SEO practices
  • Weekend availability

      Compensation ranges from $16-$90 USD per article.
